Scattered thunderstorm activity is seen over the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia and through the north of the Northern Territory, as well as about the Cape York Peninsula. These storms are associated with a broad area of low pressure and a surface trough.
An area of middle level cloud is clearing the central Queensland coast while afternoon thunderstorm activity is seen over southeast QLD and northeastern New South Wales.
A cold front is crossing northeastern Tasmania and extends into central Victoria, bringing a thin band of middle and upper level cloud.
High cloud associated with a jet stream extends from the Indian Ocean across the central western coast of WA.
The remainder of the country is under mostly clear skies.
