A trough extends from the east Top End through the Gulf of Carpentaria, directing west to northwesterly winds over coastal waters, tending east to southeasterly south of the trough. Fresh westerly winds push over the northeastern waters later this week as a monsoon trough develops over the Gulf of Carpentaria.

- Westerly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore during the day.

- Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore.
