Updated Local Waters Forecast for Port Phillip

for the period until midnight EDT Wednesday 11 November 2009.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system will be located over the Tasman Sea for the next few days. A weak trough of low pressure will form over southwest Victoria on Monday before drifting through the State on Tuesday. Another strong high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Monday before moving towards Tasmania on Tuesday then becoming slow moving on Wednesday near Tasmania.

Forecast for Sunday until midnight

Winds: Northerly 10 to 15 knots tending northeasterly up to 10 knots in the afternoon then tending easterly 10 to 15 knots later in the evening. Seas: 0.5 to 1 metres.

Forecast for Monday

Winds: North to northeasterly 5 to 10 knots tending south to southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon. Winds tending southeasterly up to 10 knots later in the evening. Seas: Below 0.5 metres increasing to 1 metre during the afternoon.

Forecast for Tuesday

Light winds tending northwest to southwesterly up to 10 knots during the morning then tending southerly up to 20 knots during the afternoon. Seas: Below 0.5 metre increasing to 0.5 to 1 metre during the afternoon and to 1.5 metres during the evening.

Forecast for Wednesday

Winds: Light winds tending southerly up to 10 knots during the morning then increasing to 10 to 20 knots during the afternoon before tending northeast to southeasterly during the evening and easing to 10 knots. Seas: Below 0.5 metre increasing to 0.5 to 1 metre during the afternoon and to 1.5 metres during the evening.
