Schedules and Frequencies for HF Marine Radio Voice Services

Service description

Marine forecasts and warnings are broadcast to mariners over High Frequency (HF) radio from Charleville (VMC) for eastern waters and Wiluna (VMW) for western waters.

The service comprises:

  • Marine weather warnings are broadcast every hour.
  • Weather forecasts and coastal observations for Coastal Waters zones and High Seas areas are repeated every four hours.
  • Navigation Maritime Safety Information for each State/Territory.

The frequencies and broadcast schedule for Charleville (VMC) and Wiluna (VMW) are detailed below.
Times are listed in Australian Eastern Standard Time (EST), Australian Central Standard Time (CST), Australian Western Standard Time (WST) and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Charleville (VMC) broadcast schedule

Marine weather warnings are broadcast on the hour (on the half-hour in CST) for NT, Qld, NSW, Vic, SA and Tas coastal waters zones and for all high seas areas. The broadcast is available on the following frequencies (kHz):

  • Day-time (0700 – 1800 EST): 4426, 8176, 12365, 16546
  • Night-time (1800 – 0700 EST): 2201, 6507, 8176, 12365

Navigation Maritime Safety Information notices are broadcast at 25 past each hour when applicable.
Marine forecasts and observations are broadcast from Charleville (VMC) on a four hour repeat cycle according to the following schedule.
