Sydney: Key findings

For the water account period 1 July 2017–30 June 2018

  • Total annual rainfall during the 2017–18 year was the second lowest on record since 1910.
  • Poor rainfall led to low streamflows and storage inflows across the region; end of year storage volume dropped by 24% from last year.
  • Water use increased from the previous year, reflecting the very dry conditions across the region.
