12.4 Urban water discharge to irrigation scheme

The volume (15,977 ML) reported in the water accounting statements is the volume of recycled water supplied from SA Water's wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) to the irrigation water supply system within the Adelaide region in the 2010–11 year. This volume included recycled water supplied from Christies Beach WWTP to the Willunga Basin Water Company and recycled water supplied from Bolivar WWTP to the Virginia Pipeline Scheme. The following table details the volume supplied from each WWTP to the respective irrigation scheme.

The 2010–11 volume of recycled water supplied from Bolivar and Christies Beach WWTPs to the irrigation scheme was supplied from WWTP records held by SA Water. The volume represents metered outflows that are manually read and recorded by plant operators.

Comparative year
In the 2010 Account the irrigation water supply system was reported as part of the urban water system; therefore there is no corresponding line item. However, the volume of urban water discharge to irrigation scheme was reported as part of line item 20.3.2 Application of water from urban water supply system and recycled water supply system for irrigation or outdoor use in the 2010 Account. The comparative year volume is 18,113 ML and is summarised in the following table.
