Adelaide
19.7 Wastewater discharge outside of region

Supporting Information

The volume reported (70,836 ML) represents discharge from five wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in the Adelaide region to the sea. The wastewater discharge, itemised by WWTPs, during the 2010–11 year is shown in the following table.

Wastewater discharge to sea in the Adelaide region in the 2010–11 year
WWTP Discharge volume (ML)
Aldinga 354
Bolivar   37,451
Bolivar High Salinity 8,708
Christies Beach  8,233
Glenelg   16,090
Total 70,836

Quantification Approach

Data Source

SA Water: WWTP records.

Provided by

SA Water.

Method

Five WWTPs discharge wastewater to the sea:

  • Aldinga
  • Bolivar
  • Bolivar High Salinity
  • Christies Beach
  • Glenelg.

The metered volume of wastewater discharged from these WWTPs in 2010–11 was supplied from WWTP records held by SA Water. These metered flows are manually read and recorded by plant operators.

Assumptions, Limitations, Caveats and Approximations

  • This item does not include any community waste management schemes which are managed by local councils.

Uncertainty Information

Uncertainty is +/– 10% based on meter calibrations.

Comparative year

This line item corresponds to 20.4.2 Wastewater discharge out of region reported in the 2010 Account. The volume reported did not change. The comparative year volume is 60,139 ML.
