41.4 Transfer of water into storages

Supporting Information

The volume of water transferred into surface water storages during the 2010–11 year was 13,685 ML. The volume is made up of transfers from rivers and from the urban water system. The transfers occur as part of urban water operations. For example urban water is released to surface water for transportation to urban water offtakes located downstream. The source and destination of the transfers are itemised in the following table.

Volume of water transferred into surface water storages in the 2010–11 year
Source Destination
Volume (ML)
Urban water system – Mannum–Adelaide Pipeline
Warren Reservoir
Urban water system – Mannum–Adelaide Pipeline Millbrook Reservoir
Torrens River at GumerachaWweir
Millbrook Reservoir
Urban water system – Millbrook Tanks Little Para Reservoir

While water is diverted from Gumeracha Weir to Millbrook Reservoir, this volume could not be quantified as data were not available.

Quantification Approach

Data Source

Readings may be from either the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) database or manual field instrument readings, stored in the MetDaily file.

Uncertainty Information

This is a metered volume. It has an estimate of +/– 10% due to meter calibration.
