South East Queensland
2.2 Underlying aquifers
This water asset exists in the South East Queensland (SEQ) region, but the volume could not be quantified in a way that is complete, neutral and free from material error due to the lack of both data and a suitable quantification approach.
The groundwater associated with the Quaternary age valley alluvial fills was considered in line item2.1 Water table aquifer. Groundwater associated with all other geological units, including the GreatArtesianBasin, could be included in line item 2.2. Underlying aquifers. Further information on groundwater within the SEQ region can be found in Environmental Hydrology Associates (2006).
The volume of water held within underlying aquifers was considered to be substantial. Therefore, the omission of this information from the water accounting statements will have a material impact on the volume reported for the groundwater asset. Further information may be found in the Resources and systems note.
