9.17 Increase of surface water claim on desalinated water

Melbourne's retail water authorities City West Water, South East Water and Yarra Valley Water hold bulk entitlements to desalinated water from the Wonthaggi desalination plant.
The bulk entitlements allow the authorities to take a combined volume up to 150,000 ML each year on an annual basis during any period of five consecutive years (subject to rules specified in the bulk entitlements).
As the Wonthaggi desalination project was not in operation during the reporting period, there were no increases, decreases or deliveries of the claim during the 2011–12 year.
