Lakes and wetlands in the Sydney region include several wetlands listed on the Australian Directory of Important Wetlands. There were limited data available on volumetric storage of these waterbodies and therefore they are omitted from the water accounting statements. While lakes and wetlands do provide significant environmental and recreational benefit, the omission of their volume does not have a material impact on the water balance of the surface water store.
