Canberra
1.3 Regulated river

Supporting information

This water asset exists in the Canberra region but the volume could not be quantified due to the lack of both data and a suitable quantification approach.

There are five major rivers within the Canberra region: the Cotter, Gudgenby, Molonglo, Queanbeyan and Murrumbidgee rivers. From the perspective of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government's Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate all rivers in the ACT operate under an unregulated entitlement system; however, under the principles of the National Water Account the Cotter River downstream of the Corin Reservoir and upstream of the Cotter Reservoir is considered regulated. This distinction is made because ACTEW Water have the ability to order and deliver water though a supply system that includes these sections of the Cotter River.
