Canberra
3.3 Recycled water system
Supporting information
The volume of water recorded within the recycled water system is 2 ML in the Canberra region on 30 June 2012. The recycled water network consists of approximately 18 km of pipes. The system includes two tanks, the Lower Russell tank and the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWCQQ) non potable water tank.

Method
The volume in pipes is calculated using ACTEW Water's ESRI GIS asset database, and assuming all pipes in the network are full based on the nominal internal diameter listed in the database. The volume in pipes has been calculated as 1.3 ML. Two storage tanks are used for recycled water, the LMWQCC non potable water tank and the Lower Russell tank. These are assumed to have a combined storage of approximately 1 ML to give a total system storage of 2 ML (rounded to nearest ML).
