6.2 Groundwater allocation remaining - urban water system

The volume recognised in the water accounting statements (3,940 ML) represents the volume of groundwater allocation remaining for urban water supply licence entitlements in the Daly region at the end of the 2011–12 year.
The urban water supply licences relate to groundwater extraction from the Tindall aquifer for Katherine town supply.

Method
The water supply licences for Katherine have a water management year that ends on 30 April. Therefore, the allocation remaining at the end of the 2011–12 year for the Daly region is the unused component of the annual allocation for this urban licence.
The allocation remaining was calculated as shown in the following table.
