Lease of surface water entitlement occurs in the Murray–Darling Basin (MDB) region. The volumetric value for the line item for the 2011–12 year was 11,981 ML. Information on leases was available only for Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. The following table provides the details of the leases.

Movement of water associated with the leases is included in line item 37.1 Surface water allocation trade within region.
