Melbourne
13.1 Adjustment and forfeiture of surface water allocation

Supporting information

The volume presented in the water accounting statements (10,636 ML) represents the forfeiture of allocation for high reliability and low reliability water shares in the Bacchus Marsh Irrigation District, Werribee River and Werribee Irrigation District within the Melbourne region during the 2011–12 year.

Individual water share holders cannot carry over unused water from year to year. Therefore the volume reported at this line item is the difference between the volume allocated during the year and the volume diverted during the year as shown in the following table.

Comparative year

In the 2011 Account, it was incorrectly reported that carryover of water allocated under high reliability and low reliability water shares in the Werribee and Bacchus Marsh irrigation districts was permitted.

In the 2012 Account, this error was corrected. Consequently the volume has been restated from 0 ML (as reported in the 2011 Account) to 12,903 ML.
