South East Queensland
1.2 Unregulated river

Supporting information

This water asset exists in the South East Queensland (SEQ) region, but the volume could not be quantified in a way that is complete, neutral and free from material error due to the lack of both data and a suitable quantification approach.

Unregulated rivers are called unsupplemented rivers in Queensland. All rivers that are not part of a water supply scheme (WSS) are considered as unregulated rivers for the purpose of the 2012 Account.

Despite the water stored within the unregulated rivers being of considerable volume, the availability of the water may be limited due to the size of river, accessibility to water, diversion licence requirements and seasonality of the flow volumes in these unregulated rivers. Further research into channel capacity is required before an accurate estimate of the volume can be achieved.
