Melbourne
11.18 Increase of urban claim on surface water
Supporting Information
The volume presented (353,431 ML) represents the volume of water effectively allocated under the bulk entitlements held by Melbourne's retail water authorities. Although a volumetric upper limit is specified for each of these bulk entitlements (refer to line item 3.7 Urban claim on surface water), formal annual allocations are not made. Therefore, the volume of water allocated is equivalent to the volume of water diverted from surface water storages in the Melbourne region for distribution via the urban water supply system.
The volume of water allocated during the 2010–11 year is itemised by Melbourne's retail water authorities in the following table. For more information refer to line item 11.12 Allocation diversion of surface water to urban water system.
