Sydney
11.15 Increase of inter-region claim on water by urban water system

Supporting Information

The volume for this line item is 5,399 ML.

Water supply from the Fish River Water Supply Scheme (FRWSS) is based on water supply agreements between NSW State Water Corporation and its customers, including Lithgow City Council (LCC) and Delta Electricity. NSW State Water Corporation has a 'deemed' water management licence for the FRWSS and operates it in collaboration with the Customer Council, of which LCC and Delta Electricity are members.

Delta Electricity and LCC have a maximum annual quantity that they are able to divert under this scheme which is subject to a set of operating rules (see Inter-valley transfers in Contextual information). As some of the water diverted under this claim is transferred to areas outside of the Sydney region, the volume reported for this line item is assumed to be the volume diverted by both LCC and Delta Electricity under the FRWSS (5,183 ML see Line item 11.9) plus the stated 2011 carryover of 216 ML.

See the following table for further details of this line item.

Quantification Approach

Data Source

Delta Electricity and Lithgow City Council: data spreadsheets.

Provided by

Delta Electricity and Lithgow City Council.

Method

Volumes are calculated from annual allocation, carry-over volume and metered supply data. Metered supply data are based on flow measurements by NSW State Water Corporation using ABB Magflow meters.

Assumptions, Limitations, Caveats and Approximations

Delta Electricity: nil.
Lithgow City Council:nil.

Uncertainty Information

The volume is based on measured data. Estimated uncertainty based on meter accuracy is +/– 2%. Meters are calibrated annually by ABB (meter supplier).
