Canberra
10.4 Recharge from surface water
Supporting information
This process occurs in the Canberra region, but the volume could not be quantified due to the lack of both data and a suitable quantification approach. Upland fractured rock aquifers are predominantly recharged from recent rainfall throughout most of the landscape rather than from localised infiltration from streams. Although not quantifiable, it is expected that recharge from surface water to groundwater (line item 10.4 Recharge from surface water) would be much less than discharge to surface water from groundwater (line item 18.4 Discharge to surface water).
