13.2 Adjustment and forfeiture of surface water allocation – urban water system
Supporting information
The volume recognised in the surface water statements (29,210 ML) represents the total forfeiture of surface water allocations for the urban water system in the Canberra region during the 2011–12 year.
For the purpose of the 2012 Account, any volume of water allocated to ACTEW under its urban water licence (line item 21.2 Surface water allocation announcements – urban water system) that has not been diverted (line item 17.12 Surface water allocation diversion – urban water system) has been considered as forfeited.
In addition to forfeited water, this line item also includes an adjustment to account for potable water releases into Googong Reservoir from Mount Stromlo water treatment plant (WTP).

Method
Unused allocation at the end of the reporting period (30 June 2012) was considered as forfeiture. Diversions from Bendora, Corin, Cotter and Googong reservoirs together with diversions from the Murrumbidgee River were subtracted from the allocated volume (line item 17.12 Surface water allocation diversion–urban water system).
The potable water discharge into Googong Reservoir from Mount Stromlo WTP was obtained from ACTEW Water. The Googong transfer was added to the allocated volume (line item 17.12 Surface water allocation diversion–urban water system).
