Adelaide
11.15 Increase of inter-region claim on water by urban water system
Supporting information
On 1 July 2012, the South Australian Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation announced that the volume of water available for abstraction under the Class 6 water access entitlement (WAE) to River Murray water for the 2012–13 year was 130,000 ML.
More information on the entitlement can be found at line item 3.4 Urban inter-region claim on water.
Quantification approach
Data source
Water Information and Licence Management Administration (WILMA) database.
Provided by
South Australian Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources.
Method
The South Australian Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation announced a 100% allocation of 1 kL/unit share for the Class 6 WAE. Based on this allocation rate and the number of Class 6 shares held, the volume of water reported was 130,000 ML. This data was obtained from the WILMA database.
Assumptions, limitations, caveats and approximations
The Class 6 WAE is represented as a claim held on behalf of the Adelaide region; however, a proportion of the water abstracted under this claim services users outside the boundary of the Adelaide region.
Uncertainty information
The uncertainty estimate was not quantified.
