12.1 Precipitation on irrigation scheme
This volume could not be quantified in a way that is complete, neutral and free from material error. Increases to the irrigation scheme via precipitation occur via open storages that form part of the irrigation scheme. This includes the Virginia Pipeline Scheme (VPS) storage pond and the three major above-ground storages operated by the Willunga Water Basin Company (WBWC). Given that WBWC storages are empty during periods of highest precipitation (winter and early spring) and the VPS storage pond is small (5 ML), increases to the irrigation scheme via precipitation to open storages are likely to be very small. Therefore the omission of this volume is unlikely to have a material impact on the irrigation scheme balance.
