Adelaide
12.6 Delivery of water to irrigation scheme under inter-region agreement
Supporting information
The volume reported (7,366 ML) was the volume of River Murray water imported to Barossa Infrastructure Limited (BIL) under their Class 3a water access entitlement in the 2012–13 year.
Murray water used by BIL is imported into the region by the following SA Water pipelines:
- The Mannum Adelaide Pipeline (MAPL): this is the preferred route. It conveys untreated water abstracted from the River Murray and then discharges it into Warren Reservoir, from where it is sent to BIL.
- The Swan Reach–Stockwell Pipeline (SRSPL): this route may be used to convey water abstracted from the River Murray and treated at Swan Reach water treatment plant.
Quantification approach
Data source
Water Information and Licence Management Administration System (WILMA) database.
Provided by
South Australian Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR).
Method
This volume was recorded in the DEWNR's WILMA database as the volume of water taken on BIL's water account. It is read at the BIL supply meter.
Assumptions, limitations, caveats and approximations
Losses in the SA Water pipelines from the point of measurement up to the delivery point to BIL are negligible.
