Canberra
10.1 Groundwater inflow from outside region
Supporting information
The volume of groundwater inflow from outside region could not be quantified due to the lack of both data and a suitable quantification approach. The region is dominated by fractured rock aquifers with a local groundwater flow system. Rates of groundwater movement in fractured rock systems typically decrease with depth becoming insignificant and difficult to quantify. The nature of the aquifer systems in the Canberra region is such that regional groundwater flow (over distances > 10 km) is limited and not believed to be material.
