The above table provides information about New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Sustainable diversion limit (SDL) areas not shown in the table may have values relevant to the line item, however, relevant information was not available for the 2013 Account. No information was available to be reported from Australian Capital Territory as there are currently no approved groundwater sharing plans for this jurisdiction.
Quantification approach
Data source
Provided by
Bureau of Meteorology (the Bureau).
Method
Extractions were extracted from the relevant clauses in the jurisdictional groundwater plans.
Assumptions, limitations, caveats and approximations
The Bureau assumed that the volume of groundwater extracted under other statutory rights is the same as the water requirements estimated for these rights at the commencements of the water management plans.
The volume reported for groundwater extracted under other statutory rights is likely to be underestimated as limited data was available.
