32.1 Other statutory surface water rights

Supporting information

The volumetric value for the line item for the 2012–13 year was 68,210 ML. The line item includes surface water rights (including land owner basic rights, riparian rights, and mining rights not under water access entitlements) other than entitlements within the Murray–Darling Basin (MDB) region. The following table presents breakdown information for the line item value on sustainable diversion limit (SDL) area basis.

The table provides information about New South Wales. Domestic and stock entitlement class applies to all the values stated in the table. No information is available from other jurisdictions about other statutory surface water rights to be reported in the 2013 Account.

Quantification approach

Data source

See the 'Data source' stated in the table provided under 'Supporting information'.

Provided by

Bureau of Meteorology (the Bureau).

Method

Values were extracted from jurisdictional water sharing plans (see the table in 'Supporting information').

Assumptions, limitations, caveats and approximations

When water sharing plans have been used as data sources, the right has been estimated at the commencement of the plan. Values extracted from draft water sharing plans are estimations.

Uncertainty information

The uncertainty estimate was not quantified.

Comparative year

An error correction resulted in the restatement of the 2011–12 year volume. An error resulted in overestimation of diversion volumes related to other statutory right for NSW Border Rivers SDL area in the 2012 Account. Associated correction was –380 ML. The respective volumes associated with the change are detailed in the following table.
