38.1 Trade of groundwater entitlement within region

The total volume of groundwater trade for take and use licences systems was 1,055 ML for the 2012–13 year and included 23 trades.
The volume reported includes permanent trade and trade as part of a land transfer. Permanent trade results in a transfer of part or all of the volume from one licence to another and generally includes a location change. Trade as part of a land transfer results in a licence change in ownership without affecting its volume and location.
The following table summarises the groundwater trade in the Melbourne region during the 2013–13 year for each groundwater management unit.
