Summary
Claudia developed over the Central Coral Sea and was steered in a southeast direction throughout its lifetime ahead of a middle level trough. The system was a very rapid developer, named at 4 pm on 11 February 2002 and intensifying to severe (category 3) by 10 am on the 12 February 2002. TRMM imagery suggests Claudia was close to peak intensity at 4 pm on 12 February 2002. Claudia had no impact on the Australian coast.
