Tropical Cyclone Edna

20 - 27 December 1980

Summary

There is some doubt whether this system reached tropical cyclone intensity. On 20 December, the initial low and associated cloud cluster were linked to the convergence zone across the Indonesian archipelago. The low then moved westwards and developed.

Edna was thought to be most intense during 24 December when its estimated central pressure was 994 hPa and gale force winds were suspected. This may have been an overestimate because locating the centre was somewhat speculative. No surface reports were available to verify the intensity of this system.
