Summary
A low that developed in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf tracked on a general westerly course for much of its lifetime. Tropical cyclone intensity was reached near the north Kimberley coast, but intensification was rapid once it moved over open waters reaching category 4 intensity early on 14 February.
Hubert began to weaken later on 14 February eventually passing west of 90°E on 17 February and weakening below cyclone intensity on 19 February.
