Supporting information

The volume recognised in the water accounting statements (27,525 ML) represents the groundwater allocation announcement in groundwater management units in the Melbourne region.

The table below shows the breakdown of groundwater allocations announced for Groundwater Management Units in the Melbourne region during 2009–10.

Method

Allocation announcements (determinations) are not announced in the Groundwater Management Units within the Melbourne region. Groundwater Management Units are managed with respect to permissible consumptive volumes, which are established for each Groundwater Management Unit.
The allocation announcement for 2009–10 was assumed to equal the full entitlement in each Groundwater Management Unit. The exception to this is the Deutgam Water Supply Protection Area, where a temporary qualification of rights to water meant that no allocations were made during 2009–10.
