19.14 Adjustment and forfeiture of urban inter-region claim on water

The volume reported (61,580 ML) represents the total adjustment and forfeiture of SA Water's River Murray water access entitlement (WAE) allocation during the 2012–13 year.

The volume reported at this line item was calculated as the sum of two components: Adjustment and forfeiture.

The volume of River Murray water imported into the Adelaide region under the Class 6 WAE (reported at line item 11.9 Delivery of water to urban water system under inter-region agreement) was different from the total volume of water abstracted from the River Murray (the volume used to debit SA Water's allocation account) under the Class 6 WAE during the 2012–13 year, due to off-takes of water to users located outside the Adelaide region, transfer losses and quantification errors. An adjustment was calculated as shown in the following table to account for this difference.

Carry-over of water allocated against the Class 6 WAE is not permitted (South Australian Murray–Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board 2011); therefore any unused water is forfeited. Forfeiture of the inter-region claim to water was calculated as shown in the following table.
