13.3 Adjustment and forfeiture of surface water allocation – irrigation scheme
Supporting information
The volume recognised in the water accounting statements (195,932 ML) represents the total forfeiture of water allocations for bulk irrigation surface water entitlements within the Ord region during the 2012–13 year. This item refers to irrigation licences for the Ord River Irrigation Area.
The irrigation scheme licences relate to the following areas:
- Ivanhoe and Packsaddle irrigation districts (Ord Irrigation Cooperative)

Method
The portion of surface water allocation that has not been abstracted at the end of the year is forfeited, i.e. there is no carry-over of entitlements into next year's account.
The water supply licences for the Ord Irrigation Cooperative and the Water Corporation have a water management year that ends on 31 December. Therefore, the forfeiture reported for these licences is calculated as the allocation remaining on 1 July minus the total allocation diversion between 1 July–31 December.
Total forfeiture for these irrigation supply licences is the forfeiture reported on 31 December of the reporting year.
Assumptions, limitations, caveats and approximations
Forfeiture is calculated based on available abstraction data. Where the abstraction data are estimated, the forfeiture is subject to the same assumptions and limitations of the abstraction data (refer to line item 17.13 Entitled diversion of allocated surface water to irrigation scheme).
Uncertainty information
The uncertainty estimate was not quantified.
