Additional information on the above table:

  • Queensland data include the allocation announcement for irrigation in the supplemented system.
  • The Queensland Water Audit Monitoring (WAM) Report 2009–10 states that carryover did not apply to any scheme in the 2008–09 or 2009–10 water years. According to the Queensland WAM report, allocation announcement includes both the allocation announcement during the year and the remaining water available at the end of the year. No information was available to separate the water available at the end of the year from the allocation announced during the year; however the following information was available:
    • Condamine–Balonne region – Condamine River to Chinchilla Weir storage. The announced allocation from Leslie Dam was 0%; however, the allocation announcement has been adjusted to reflect water permitted to be taken under stream flow period rules.
    • Condamine–Balonne region – Beardmore storage to border. This is predominantly a capacity share scheme and doesn't have an annual announced allocation. Announced allocation is calculated on use plus available water remaining at the end of the water year.
    • Border Rivers region – Border Rivers. This is a continuous accounting scheme and doesn't have an annual announced allocation. Announced allocation is calculated on use plus available water remaining at the end of the water year.
    • Border Rivers region – Macintyre Brook. Part of this scheme is subject to announced allocation but it is gradually moving to continuous accounting. Announced allocation is as announced for the bulk share component.
  • No information is available for South Australia. See Line item 25.1.9.7 Allocation announcement on regulated flows – other lumped holders.

Australian Capital Territory: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (30 November 2010).
New South Wales: New South Wales Office of Water’s Water Accounting section.
Queensland: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (31 January 2011).
South Australia: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (22 February 2011).
Victoria: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (19 January 2011).

Note: Water audit monitoring (WAM) report data are stored in the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) HYDRO database.

Data provider

MDBA.

Method

WAM-supplied data are either measured, modelled or estimated.

Uncertainty

Uncertainty is ungraded.

Approximations, assumptions, caveats/limitations

  • For Queensland, as the allocation announcement includes both the allocation and water available at the end of the year, the carryover value may be understated and the allocation announcement may be overstated.
