Additional information on the values provided in the above table is given below:

  • ACTEW Corporation has the right to extract 71,000 ML from the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales storages. No formal allocation announcement is made within the Australian Capital Territory to extract water from the storages and the allocation announcement for the year is assumed to be equal to the allocation diversion.
  • New South Wales data includes the major and local water utility allocation announcement. This volume excludes the high security town water supply allocation announcements. See Line item 25.1.2.4 Allocation announcement on regulated flows – high-security, urban holder.
  • South Australian urban allocations are included in Line item 25.1.2.4.
  • No information is available for Victoria. See Line item 25.1.9.7 Allocation on regulated flows remaining – other lumped holders.

Quantification approach

Data source

Australian Capital Territory: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (30 November 2010).
New South Wales: New South Wales Office of Water’s Water Accounting section.
Queensland: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (31 January 2011).
South Australia: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (22 February 2011).
Victoria: Water Audit Monitoring Report 2009–10 (19 January 2011).

Note: Water audit monitoring (WAM) report data are stored in the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) HYDRO database.

Data provider

MDBA.

Method

Allocation announcement is calculated by the states.
Allocation announcement for Murrumbidgee – ACT is assumed to be equal to the allocation diversion. See Line item 14.7.4 Allocation diversion of regulated flows – urban water access entitlement.

Uncertainty

  • WAM-sourced data does not have any uncertainty information on allocation remaining. The uncertainty of the remaining data is shown in the above table entitled ‘Allocation announcement/claim recognition on regulated flows for urban water access entitlement/arrangement for Murray–Darling Basin for 2009–10’.
