A licence is required for any party who plans to discharge recycled water into the connected surface water store. The Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) Point Source Database did not contain any recycled water discharges to the connected surface water store for 2009–10. This line item has been retained in the water accounting statement as there is potential for recycled water discharges to the connected surface water store in future years through the SEQ Water Grid.
According to the current South East Queensland System Operating Plan:
If and when purified recycled water is introduced into Lake Wivenhoe, this water will then be available for use throughout the entire SEQ region via the SEQ Water Grid.
