Daly
14.1 Adjustment and forfeiture of groundwater allocation
Supporting information
The volume recognised in the water accounting statements of 47,360 ML represents the total forfeiture of water allocations for all groundwater supply to individual users in the Daly region during the 2012–13 year.
Quantification approach
Data source
Water Resource Licensing database and meter readings from licensees.
Provided by
The Department of Land Resource Management.
Method
The portion of groundwater allocation that has not been abstracted at the end of the 2012–13 year is forfeited, that is, there is no carryover of entitlements into next year's account.
The groundwater supply licences for the Daly region have a water management year that ends on 30 April. Therefore, the forfeiture reported for individual user licences is calculated as the total allocation remaining at 1 July 2012 less the total allocation diversion between 1 July 2012–30 April 2013, as shown in the following table.

Assumptions, limitations, caveats and approximations
Forfeiture is calculated based on available extraction data. Where the extraction data are estimated the forfeiture is subject to the same assumptions and limitations of the extraction data (refer to line item 18.11 Entitled extraction of allocated groundwater).
Uncertainty information
The uncertainty estimate was not quantified.
