Description

Abstract

Mean monthly and mean annual sunshine-hour grids
The grids show the sunshine-hour values across Australia in the form of two-dimensional array data.
The mean data are based on stations with at least 15 years of records.

Data Quality

Lineage

Gridded data were generated using the Barnes 2-D meteorological analysis. Approximately 90 stations were used in the analysis and  station data underwent at a high degree of quality control before analysis.

Most of the stations used in the analysis have at least 15 years of records, with at least 80% complete data over the recorded period.

The bright sunshine data that were used in producing the grids were  from the Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorders.

Positional Accuracy

The observational (station) data on which the analyses were based have an associated accuracy of the order of 0.01 degrees (approximately 1km) or better.

Attribute Accuracy

Grid point data are post processed.
