This Atlas includes a range of rainfall related information for Australia. As well as rainfall maps, there is information about rainfall variability in Australia, an explanation of the sources of Australian rainfall and a description of rainfall changes in the 20th Century.

Product details

The rainfall maps released in this current set represent the first published revision of these maps since 1975. Other climatic parameters published in this series include temperature and evapotranspiration.

Information contained in the Atlas includes:

  • Average monthly and average annual rainfall maps (based on the period 1961 - 1990) together with explanatory text.
  • A description of the major sources of Australian rainfall.
  • Statistical rainfall data showing daily and annual rainfall records.
  • Time series graphs showing winter, spring and annual rainfall from 1900 to 1997.
  • Rainfall variability maps and associated explanatory text.
  • Information about rainfall changes in the 20th Century.
