Product details

The Australian synoptic wind data DVD ROM contains:

  • Synoptic (generally 3-hourly or less) wind data for approximately 1,740 stations from the start of recording until the latest available.
  • Additional information to help describe the process behind the wind observations, including details on observational instructions, and a brief section on technical notes and further references.

A companion product, IDCJDC06, provides daily wind information including daily mean wind speed, wind gust and wind run data.

Format

Data is provided on DVD ROM, comprising files in the following formats:

  • Synoptic wind data in comma separated ASCII text, compressed in ZIP format, with 1 observation per record;
  • Brief notes describing some properties of the data and the formats of the data, as a text file;
  • Station details, as text files
