From 2016 the Annual Climate Report has been discontinued. The Annual Climate Statement, which is published in early January, provides the initial summary of annual values and a detailed overview of temperatures, rainfall and significant weather events for the year.
A scientific paper is published later in the year in Journal of Southern Hemisphere Earth Systems Science which contains updated annual values and provides a citeable reference.
The annual climate reports are the Bureau of Meteorology's official summaries of the Australian climate. They contain descriptions of Australia's rainfall and temperature patterns during the year, and document significant weather and climate events. They are available as PDFs.
