Thunderstorm and Strong Wind Confirmation Reports - Northern Territory

The pages linked from the following table indicate where lightning (for completed months) have been verified for Darwin Airport. For areas and dates not covered in the table, please refer to the contact above. Descriptions of the terms used in these tables can be found on the overview page.

Note: You may need to refresh each time you visit a report to get the latest. The current month will not be available until the completion of the month.

It is possible, especially in the case of isolated thunderstorm activity, that some thunderstorms are not detected. If there is doubt, please email climatedata@bom.gov.au and your request will receive more detailed attention to determine whether thunderstorms were likely.

For information on locations and time periods not covered in these reports please contact us providing the postcode and the name of your location of interest. Please note that there will be a charge for this service. Until further advised, subscribers can avoid these additional charges by quoting their allocated Registered User name when requesting individual reports for areas beyond the coverage of this service.

Please note our confirmations are statements that storms have occurred in a general area, rather than only directly above Darwin Airport. As our observation network is sparse, not all weather phenomena may be reported to the Bureau of Meteorology. Also, thunderstorms often form in groups or bands and may traverse 100's of kilometres during their lifespan. For these reasons, this report of thunderstorms/lightning indicates that these phenomena have been observed on the specified date within a 50 km radius of Darwin Airport.
