groundwater recharge
The infiltration or ingress of water to the saturated part of a geological layer. Infiltration of precipitation and its movement to the watertable is a form of natural recharge. Other forms of recharge are flooding and irrigation. Artificial recharge can also occur through various means, including bore injection.
