Interagency Working Group report 

In March 2016 the Australian Government released a report by an interagency working group on water information. The report identified measures to reduce the regulatory burden and costs of providing water information.

The Interagency Working Group on Commonwealth water information provision, led by the Bureau of Meteorology, was established in December 2014 following a recommendation of the independent review of the Water Act 2007

The working group comprised officials from the Bureau of Meteorology, the Murray–Darling Basin Authority, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the Treasury, and the Department of the Environment.

Giving effect to the findings

The working group report made four recommendations and proposed six actions. An Outcomes Report, released in December 2017, documents the activities of working group members to give effect to each of these measures.
