Reducing our water consumption even when there are no restrictions helps to save water for our future supply. Changing a little can save a lot!
Here are some ideas on how you can save water with not much effort:
Take shorter showers - An average shower uses about 18 litres of water per minute. If you shorten your shower by 2 minutes, you can cut your water use by 36 litres. You can further reduce your water consumption by turning the water off while soaping
Change your shower head to a water efficient type - You can save around 9 litres of water every minute by installing a water-saving shower head
Turn the taps off when you're brushing your teeth, washing your hands or shaving
If you don't have a fully loaded washing machine, adjust the load setting to suit your washing requirements

Only turn the dishwasher on when it's full. Make sure you use the right settings for different types of wash
Collect water in a bowl or jug whenever you need to run the taps, and use it on your garden. Do this when you're waiting for water to heat up or cool down. You can also do this when washing vegetables
